About the Artist

Meet Donna, the artist behind Kelloway Cove Contemporary Art.

Donna’s artwork — both large and small — is a celebration of everyday wonder.

As a toddler, she expressed delight with the phrase “Oh, pippy!”—a joyful exclamation at the sight of anything beautiful.

Today, Donna frequently stops in her tracks to take in a pleasing sight: vibrant colours, striking contrasts, playful patterns, or a random car that happens to match her salmon-pink pants.

These moments of visual serendipity spark her creativity, giving her the fuel to share and amplify that sense of joy.

Approach

Donna’s art is all about capturing the beauty of the sights around her, from the angles of laundry on a clothesline to the luminous glow of backlit leaves. Her process starts with her own sketches and photographs of these everyday moments.

As her practice evolves, her paintings explore the places where external landscapes meet internal ones.

She works across a range of styles, from realistic to abstract, but often leans into expressionism, using bold brushstrokes and vivid colours to bring emotion to the surface.

While she mostly paints with acrylics, she also works in gouache, collage, and mixed media across a range of sizes and surfaces. She gravitates towards small-format art as a way to quickly execute ideas, and frequently creates multiple pieces from her source material.
